Southampton Scrap Store

Ok..I know I'm well behind on my non-loon blogging so why has this morning's trip jumped to the front of the queue? Because SOUTHAMPTON SCRAP STORE IS GREAT!!

A couple of days ago, ukhandmade, published their summer issue of their online mag. Amongst other great articles, there's one on The fantasticness of Scrap stores. I read with intrest and thought- I wish there was one round here. As a crafty person who has been living in Southampton for the past, um...nearly 10 years now (has it really been that long?!), I thought that if we had one, I'd know about it. Thought I'd check this list anyway to see if there were any stores in the surrounding area. To my delight, I found out that there are 2 in Southampton!!!

The Totton one is closer but the Thornhill one has better opening hours for me so off I trundled. Its not a big place but there's loads of great stuff. You pay £15 to join for the year (as an individual- groups have different rates) and then £1 per bag of scrap. It also has a little crafty bits shop and tiny library. Apparently you can even hire sewing or badge making machines from them.

Here's what I got:

The quilling paper and little bags of embossing power were bought from the shop but the bits I got in my scrap bag are: a small wooden block; fabric; big netting; clear double sided sticky pads; nail foils; other foils; big spiral binding combs; felt and fleece scraps; strips of pink tulle; fringing; chunky sticky back foam; thick card; glass from a clip frame (not pictured); empty tins; very thick cream felt; and lush moulds for bath melts etc.

Great stuff!! I shall definately be back!
